But it actually means that the Volksstreaker is sold and moves on to a new home! During the Maikäfertreffen I advertised the car. There were several guys I talked to about the car, but one guy in particular was very interested and we had a long conversation, followed by a test drive and of course a hint to check out a link to this blog - which is basically the diary of the car. One day later during a long phone call a deal was struck and today was the day! The Streaker has a new owner and a long and interesting journey comes to an end! A Hazard Streaker has been on my bucket list since I was about 15 years old and a neighbors daughter had a black Hazard Streaker.<br />
As every cloud has a silver lining - first of all I am sure the new owner is exactly the right person - and there are some funds for a future project!<br />
Oh, did I mention about the photo session with Volkswagen Magazine during the MKT? So, maybe there will be another entry to this blog with a link to a VW website - I am already a little excited!Volkswrencherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03558501978179773996noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240955346048499469.post-8804369308949263982018-05-01T12:03:00.000-07:002018-05-01T12:32:22.833-07:00Project update May 1st 2018The new look was an eye catcher during todays Maikäfertreffen in Hannover - I was even asked by Volkswagen magazine to participate in a photo shooting - Which I -of course- did. It was a silly and funny experience. When some pics will be posted, I will let you know!<br />
With some initial vinyl wrap experience, I bought some yellow transparent material and converted the fog lamps:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdk64YsDtlXpZ8WOt7Z0VO9kn94huNIzsgVKzx6YGZvyGe9J4rNvJSzoH6RmmMyqxH6VwhgtcMS727EC8x8ky_sAs5kcRZxoKdrQwNarI3M7-7jbe1NKJbovFHqU2fLgnuvGOG4kVeRouR/s1600/IMG_20180422_200339.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdk64YsDtlXpZ8WOt7Z0VO9kn94huNIzsgVKzx6YGZvyGe9J4rNvJSzoH6RmmMyqxH6VwhgtcMS727EC8x8ky_sAs5kcRZxoKdrQwNarI3M7-7jbe1NKJbovFHqU2fLgnuvGOG4kVeRouR/s640/IMG_20180422_200339.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
(Also note the new FEDIMA front tyres)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
One of the things which always bugged me when I drove the Streaker was the lack of sound (not engine sound, but actual music), so I built a sound board with stealth speaker installation:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

You can hardly see it on the black blanket :-) It is installed and helped to enhance the journey to and from Hannover. Volkswrencherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03558501978179773996noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240955346048499469.post-86026352717808361562018-04-10T12:09:00.001-07:002018-04-10T12:09:22.676-07:00Project updateThe Streaker deserved some love, after it wasn't used much for quite some time. I wanted to fix some issues which bugged me since long. As I've learned by watching Roadkill - Making a list is always a good first step:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl_iLg_49pgTlg328XDug7zy7MhMQ2zGWi4mGVtdsCpHqrHF_ig-_yx1W-J6nG3L9UJOH_0PQcs7yz0PNifBC7j_AXqcc__UMu81Il3BdP7VZSum9sAYmaGfMmthn_nmi9b4_QqSWl2vFK/s1600/IMG_20180330_104639.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl_iLg_49pgTlg328XDug7zy7MhMQ2zGWi4mGVtdsCpHqrHF_ig-_yx1W-J6nG3L9UJOH_0PQcs7yz0PNifBC7j_AXqcc__UMu81Il3BdP7VZSum9sAYmaGfMmthn_nmi9b4_QqSWl2vFK/s640/IMG_20180330_104639.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
One of the problems was the rattling drop glass on the driver door, whenever it wasn't fully shut. New window scrapers had to be installed. The outer scraper is part of the chrome frame:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD6u6SpiybxPPJukaC_8XIg2UsVXcmJ-LlaUNWE125a9ZVGOl7etI2hvO44Gcl1y-PFJuNP94jLSLqWZJivhzzfu53aNx1HPmGoTE1zK7Rh8-q8ty0XGjb9BG-j8rbwWd5oCInki4RT5bk/s1600/IMG_20180330_110914.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD6u6SpiybxPPJukaC_8XIg2UsVXcmJ-LlaUNWE125a9ZVGOl7etI2hvO44Gcl1y-PFJuNP94jLSLqWZJivhzzfu53aNx1HPmGoTE1zK7Rh8-q8ty0XGjb9BG-j8rbwWd5oCInki4RT5bk/s640/IMG_20180330_110914.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
As there was another little issue on the driver door, this could be fixed at the same time:<br />
The door card wasn't assembled properly, it bowed out on the top: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivU7YRnZSyN4IwnPU9hpROjTakg775JKZ2LnWmC02oXVM8ZHcenAY04gjHvjkX1MwJAs67Fnw-UGkSGAw1TEu07qH_O01f5iw6Yh3vzzy-9GNqAcRBvAqEeHUNyFSrObdEqeZKtaQIrpzL/s1600/IMG_20180330_105304.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivU7YRnZSyN4IwnPU9hpROjTakg775JKZ2LnWmC02oXVM8ZHcenAY04gjHvjkX1MwJAs67Fnw-UGkSGAw1TEu07qH_O01f5iw6Yh3vzzy-9GNqAcRBvAqEeHUNyFSrObdEqeZKtaQIrpzL/s640/IMG_20180330_105304.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
So, the whole door was disassembled and the new frame and scrapers were installed:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYetI4ZAkDV2vZtwSJjjJwnRuXY9I684cCfNthEDL3dBDxZISvy-0PAqT83cHOgx6xfFVHpEGUcR2byk2tc96unKFLwtRFevk7KHH9OnahOw8XuWrkCWpvgBNzqmg-wa1r9r9dGChCkutU/s1600/IMG_20180330_110901.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYetI4ZAkDV2vZtwSJjjJwnRuXY9I684cCfNthEDL3dBDxZISvy-0PAqT83cHOgx6xfFVHpEGUcR2byk2tc96unKFLwtRFevk7KHH9OnahOw8XuWrkCWpvgBNzqmg-wa1r9r9dGChCkutU/s640/IMG_20180330_110901.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
(Note the important plastic foil barrier to keep water out outside and away from the door card)<br />
<br />
After the door was finished and the glass is now rattle free independent of the position, it was time to remove the exhaust for cleaning, de-rusting and new paint:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLeyDSuSW2WO2w-SIKEH9hDuERbtxQz2CjBYSQWyTolQYO5uVE781euO3J8kXbYxgl47paMZRu1CRtomvwZ-Br1WJmhqPsext3r0Y-fv5Rr3xS3ocfPNzwemlLjuNgF9r2JKpoSm2MeRKn/s1600/IMG_20180330_130657+-+Kopie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLeyDSuSW2WO2w-SIKEH9hDuERbtxQz2CjBYSQWyTolQYO5uVE781euO3J8kXbYxgl47paMZRu1CRtomvwZ-Br1WJmhqPsext3r0Y-fv5Rr3xS3ocfPNzwemlLjuNgF9r2JKpoSm2MeRKn/s640/IMG_20180330_130657+-+Kopie.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
No matter which "heat resistant" paint you use, after a while, the header always looks like this...<br />
<br />
It looks tons better, I am curious how long it will last this time:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAArQbHeO8KOBIxODthP9HAu9NlsfXa4t98P69IElXQ0yl8lUKWB7qVI7Y5PoZm2uUUFaKn9s2yWvGo6McKAAUy2SoqV2sPhri99KYM2GNOhTXkSi6rMxUjrAzkcBDVgf38kv0LMLE-u0q/s1600/IMG_20180330_181535.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAArQbHeO8KOBIxODthP9HAu9NlsfXa4t98P69IElXQ0yl8lUKWB7qVI7Y5PoZm2uUUFaKn9s2yWvGo6McKAAUy2SoqV2sPhri99KYM2GNOhTXkSi6rMxUjrAzkcBDVgf38kv0LMLE-u0q/s640/IMG_20180330_181535.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The oil sump had 2 stripped threads, which I heli-coiled (sorry, no picture) and then the stripes were added. This is the realisation of an idea which is already 2 years old, but finally I got around and made it.<br />
This is the initial sketch of my idea and a color scheme:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFnkQd_kzVDwnvyqz5oJsIVkeLrWbo3n8KxsLzq6glxNTaGjAbUDCc5Okfn5G0gHWMCyWgdoReZ6ybBVl8XxZqvMnMXWQ4S153JjzPbSoZsnX3ROqIgQXkz0eQeHFakedcB-9i9253FIRx/s1600/IMG_20180407_162944.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFnkQd_kzVDwnvyqz5oJsIVkeLrWbo3n8KxsLzq6glxNTaGjAbUDCc5Okfn5G0gHWMCyWgdoReZ6ybBVl8XxZqvMnMXWQ4S153JjzPbSoZsnX3ROqIgQXkz0eQeHFakedcB-9i9253FIRx/s640/IMG_20180407_162944.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Even though it isn't exactly as shown in the sketch (because it was just a quick job with no measurements or a picture as basis, the contours are a little different between drawing and real world) I think the outcame is o.k.:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmbaMk75EuRVBBZgWUzymBNrqiC-DHcLh0ZyrbxE0VjtdgkqufsO1CJ_tX3aU8kldqotihBL8EhAPPupjSWPmwAp6sihQEQiN_VFMO_KPQmjFUHQ0D5uGz782pX29wtf_NBbkvCDOmUTAn/s1600/IMG_20180410_164557.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmbaMk75EuRVBBZgWUzymBNrqiC-DHcLh0ZyrbxE0VjtdgkqufsO1CJ_tX3aU8kldqotihBL8EhAPPupjSWPmwAp6sihQEQiN_VFMO_KPQmjFUHQ0D5uGz782pX29wtf_NBbkvCDOmUTAn/s640/IMG_20180410_164557.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Maybe the next time the width of the stripes shall be a little smaller...<br />
<br />
Then it was time for TÜV - it already expired in December of 2017 - 2 years after I got the Streaker back on the streets. Time just flies!<br />
So, today I had an appointment with a positive result - 2 more years on the road! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I really enjoyed driving the Streaker today, but I noticed how much I missed some music on board, so watch this space for more stuff to happen - before the 1st of May Hannover meeting! Also, the roof rack and possibly the light bar will be added soon, so stay tuned! This will be the 1st time ever I will actually visit the Maikäfertreffen in Mai in a beetle! <br />
The addition of a roof rack is something I planned for a long time, but now I found the lateral beams and the roof rack itself and I already designed and fabricated a sturdy fixation system:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhghHaRoOxuHzlspLBPsJXD9TwNz-4R9bgbwLysafkOlyydNA2x62nUkdA9PPHApgBGm4FHoXUzrck8FNUKQai_yj0wFVboPzY-na4vf5NTT1Z-KHuaH0haxQqe6j2-YF0hEijBwrB0zpvS/s1600/P1050435.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhghHaRoOxuHzlspLBPsJXD9TwNz-4R9bgbwLysafkOlyydNA2x62nUkdA9PPHApgBGm4FHoXUzrck8FNUKQai_yj0wFVboPzY-na4vf5NTT1Z-KHuaH0haxQqe6j2-YF0hEijBwrB0zpvS/s640/P1050435.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Top: The brackets to to affix the clamps onto the lateral supports<br />
Bottom: Clamps (originally for hydraulic piping) some special nuts and hardware to mount the clamps onto the lateral supports, clamping the roof rack itself<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqUStqEr3CwWVtfo8Gd9JV8XLgjV7zvP2UJsGVjKic8Snwsgy7jt5r-nbFEYUcMUhQVs3IP-0DXbTDR-h_jsdmTr2PtYMfjmviNtqZd2yRMn8Y-6vdki-9U9HypYekCQYl6ySjkO-VS3ii/s1600/P1050438.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqUStqEr3CwWVtfo8Gd9JV8XLgjV7zvP2UJsGVjKic8Snwsgy7jt5r-nbFEYUcMUhQVs3IP-0DXbTDR-h_jsdmTr2PtYMfjmviNtqZd2yRMn8Y-6vdki-9U9HypYekCQYl6ySjkO-VS3ii/s640/P1050438.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
The nuts (metric wood nuts with the claws removed) will be sandwiched between the the rack and the supports <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVwirw5n6K02uHvsoFyXzyvvYIvnlCAbXyQsPnIlNaGVY-0yaDjMI5ylfmvnwVoJ8F_fWB8A5gnVDrIJM7kiiwZGqx1gb5MH_rQblIomoD38ZbFPU7ElQQvRvW8ma4rIjXux4Jm9GetroA/s1600/P1050439.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVwirw5n6K02uHvsoFyXzyvvYIvnlCAbXyQsPnIlNaGVY-0yaDjMI5ylfmvnwVoJ8F_fWB8A5gnVDrIJM7kiiwZGqx1gb5MH_rQblIomoD38ZbFPU7ElQQvRvW8ma4rIjXux4Jm9GetroA/s640/P1050439.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
The clamps will afterwards be mounted onto the brackets, allowing the roof rack itself to rest sturdy on the Streaker.<br />
<br />
Sounds complicated? Well, a few pics of the finished article will follow soon...Volkswrencherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03558501978179773996noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240955346048499469.post-48700913276407506592017-03-27T12:58:00.001-07:002017-04-01T12:33:25.351-07:0034 PICT 4 carburatorWhile I was totally frustrated due to issues on the Volksback, I took some time on Sunday to finally dial the PICT 34 in. Initially, I always made a mistake during the tuning, so I messed every time. I tried it several times for the last months - but made the same mistake again and again. Another deep dive for info on the internet enlighted me and now I can say it really runs nice - finally! Volkswrencherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03558501978179773996noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240955346048499469.post-91614211602200389632017-02-11T03:45:00.000-08:002017-02-11T03:46:31.452-08:00New beam: done!Yesterday afternoon I started to prepare the donor beam. The tabs to attach the front bumper had to be welded on and more important, I literally flooded the whole inside of both domes with cavity wax. This beam should last forever!<br />
As the manuals say, re-assembly in reverse order, which was a doodle with exception of inserting the leaf springs (a highlight, every time again) and I also struggled to re-install the speedometer cable! Somehow the rubber plug in the spindle didn't allow to feed the cable deep enough, then it didn't move at all. A lot of pulling and swearing resulted in this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3ebx3XLXKWlqSTCp2ZtECXS-Md8rQNNiPkPBUm8ntOA_zqTCWgt9uIDgG0Bm6-p1xfT3xXGhjUnt-7mdF9SyfJV096THFBU5s23i2QQkYVmgY2gw7DKlKfvt2zlNW9qAka-vyRm2-oTC8/s1600/P1050213.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3ebx3XLXKWlqSTCp2ZtECXS-Md8rQNNiPkPBUm8ntOA_zqTCWgt9uIDgG0Bm6-p1xfT3xXGhjUnt-7mdF9SyfJV096THFBU5s23i2QQkYVmgY2gw7DKlKfvt2zlNW9qAka-vyRm2-oTC8/s640/P1050213.JPG" width="480" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The first ~15 cm outer "skin" ripped off! Using it in this condition would result in almost instant death of the cable. Well, I always have a lot of spares in my garage, but a speedo cable isn't something you expect to need now and then. So I had to fix it. Luckily I have several rolls of heat shring tubing material in different diameters available, why not give it a try with this. It should seal in both directions, no water can ingress and no grease can egress.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the background you can see the remains of the rubber plug. This is something I had in my spare parts stash:</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The rest was done real quick, the beam got another coat of wax from the outside, then I just checked if all screws were properly fixed, the grease nipples were used to press out any old grease and a final visual check if everything looked good. </div>

This is the result of all the work - nothing looks different than before, but now all is safe and rust free again!<br />
On the bright side, none of the involved tools will catch any rust soon, as this was a messy, greasy affair!Volkswrencherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03558501978179773996noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240955346048499469.post-17404896066400199182017-02-08T09:19:00.001-08:002017-02-08T09:19:12.937-08:00Organ donorDonating an organ is always a generous gesture - of course, in real life even more important than in a hobby, but, I am thankful to receive a really perfect condition donor beam from the "Blaumann" project!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFGzJlosf6QGHwHQob4C8TFEcJ585XhhcDRbaGDodSZ2G34XXVcmXD1n_HW8w31ec5O2xdKyP1cWMH0FsXo6yzK5Unn6ZX4f3t-atuWNuw7cqnFJvsAN7R4Tkfk_fvIdic8oBqFZKT-y6R/s1600/P1050212.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFGzJlosf6QGHwHQob4C8TFEcJ585XhhcDRbaGDodSZ2G34XXVcmXD1n_HW8w31ec5O2xdKyP1cWMH0FsXo6yzK5Unn6ZX4f3t-atuWNuw7cqnFJvsAN7R4Tkfk_fvIdic8oBqFZKT-y6R/s640/P1050212.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Currently I am removing the tar-like coat, which helped this beam to survive without any issues!<br />
<br />
And the transferred money is for a good cause - An investment in the "Blaumann"-stance. A win-win situation!<br />
Oh, and seriously - get one of these!<br />

front beam.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeWDLt57p3tzjryvwaXLa9td0ldYHjSHcv5D_xvDCykuCCbqfX-ZY8vz6jJf52JKz1jjY0jSWrjl1t4T8IHj9yinQ1zxXwzB8eGpdhvByciJt9_zjHgd_fqyDNauiMBY5jWY8ADVMX9dIC/s1600/GEDC0151.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeWDLt57p3tzjryvwaXLa9td0ldYHjSHcv5D_xvDCykuCCbqfX-ZY8vz6jJf52JKz1jjY0jSWrjl1t4T8IHj9yinQ1zxXwzB8eGpdhvByciJt9_zjHgd_fqyDNauiMBY5jWY8ADVMX9dIC/s640/GEDC0151.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
At that time, a used original VW beam showed up on the <a href="http://www.bugnet.de/">Bugnet</a> and I bought it for a reasonable price. It was painted already and appeared to be in good nick, so I added another coat of paint, assembled the whole thing with brand new VW disc brake spindles + all new ball joints and new seals<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-z-Dyy8h3BNBAAqmowWUGelCuBUTgUIQ-Q_eev8MQWMEOOIJOMKeVcIBXkKhTkEMSmYdunnEMnm6oRgAm_tgxa2Na1MvbJWz6eF1ixxr8ap8bvjpwQu8_AVXkN9bPfSZeZ172O0d2Vg-f/s1600/GEDC3575+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-z-Dyy8h3BNBAAqmowWUGelCuBUTgUIQ-Q_eev8MQWMEOOIJOMKeVcIBXkKhTkEMSmYdunnEMnm6oRgAm_tgxa2Na1MvbJWz6eF1ixxr8ap8bvjpwQu8_AVXkN9bPfSZeZ172O0d2Vg-f/s640/GEDC3575+%25282%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
and thought everything is fine...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0yA2kpZMt7TSYTX86dvUQbcrZ3hLYqO45ucUDi0XeBtu7khobWL23p7CGiEcyjHXxtmkl8UjOrO8bW07JKVfsbsCe8BKKzX9pN1tGW0yoto4H2gQLPCyb5eka8Z_bVU11N5PdAJkOwdFS/s1600/GEDC0340.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0yA2kpZMt7TSYTX86dvUQbcrZ3hLYqO45ucUDi0XeBtu7khobWL23p7CGiEcyjHXxtmkl8UjOrO8bW07JKVfsbsCe8BKKzX9pN1tGW0yoto4H2gQLPCyb5eka8Z_bVU11N5PdAJkOwdFS/s640/GEDC0340.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Just 1 year after completion and some street use, a bad rust spot caught my eye. I poked a little and it got bigger. No chance, the beam needs to be fixed right away!<br />

<br />
So, today I dismantled everything and removed the beam from the Streaker. The stainless steel clamps for the stabilizer bar came handy, they can be removed and re-attached easily. Besides the standard work procedure, the front bumper with fog lights had to be removed as well:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This is what the beam looked like after removal from the vehicle:<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
At that tme I was expecting that a few patches and some hours of welding and grinding should do the job.<br />
A wire wheel brush was used to remove all paint and discover the ugly truth:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5rxlKpCmPxO0-2W1VmxB-PmbfwP89BBe95cHygZv2AEN-PfUimwqXS7wybCl_izAOwlULlLgnlxQhPjM8Nf8SPEIzCCgk5GXCF3Hty6oKOwVTmDtVU41MXh-EGlwd8SZEQ0vDOgxJ1EXf/s1600/P1050203.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5rxlKpCmPxO0-2W1VmxB-PmbfwP89BBe95cHygZv2AEN-PfUimwqXS7wybCl_izAOwlULlLgnlxQhPjM8Nf8SPEIzCCgk5GXCF3Hty6oKOwVTmDtVU41MXh-EGlwd8SZEQ0vDOgxJ1EXf/s640/P1050203.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
A totally shot dome, paper thin material and too much rust to trust in a repair job. In addition to the damage on the front and the side, this is the rear of the right dome:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1B4d0S-6lp4GLc17q1IzsZXzLFHh23iQkEZysFS73QnOvt1w12EVD9_xI8i4c9_tvo2iasBAbRAgM00BibpfGGbA8QPTG92vMrJz_h4SddSVcTzh9s3xMkO5g_nWa0VqijBEdmq5eWMx_/s1600/P1050201.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1B4d0S-6lp4GLc17q1IzsZXzLFHh23iQkEZysFS73QnOvt1w12EVD9_xI8i4c9_tvo2iasBAbRAgM00BibpfGGbA8QPTG92vMrJz_h4SddSVcTzh9s3xMkO5g_nWa0VqijBEdmq5eWMx_/s640/P1050201.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
At that time it was clear: This beam is dead - but, just for fun, let's check the other dome as well:<br />
front side of left dome: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6-hHNyJ9_20NdeqA8kRPO6H34L58-74Y0cOjrHS1Z6teIGIrZdhgeEbhdsP_-UCySkpwluiwYvD9amJBvPMaP7BtXJNU4KuCxCqPFmR4hbiwXDFjNNKzeRg0PcC081NfVrynw_KynIvX1/s1600/P1050205.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6-hHNyJ9_20NdeqA8kRPO6H34L58-74Y0cOjrHS1Z6teIGIrZdhgeEbhdsP_-UCySkpwluiwYvD9amJBvPMaP7BtXJNU4KuCxCqPFmR4hbiwXDFjNNKzeRg0PcC081NfVrynw_KynIvX1/s640/P1050205.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
rear side of left dome:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB6qJ7rXImpAoiFhpUCMOimkla31rFOiIRux7jlIAeDBsJnXAmTBk9CGQAfuvWJEicftvPLeQLJZA7V3rj9hH8CRPkNjDX7UkfXtotyv9lnQK49sYFHQynDk46lN8JPUjT4OZonKGfVTZq/s1600/P1050206.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB6qJ7rXImpAoiFhpUCMOimkla31rFOiIRux7jlIAeDBsJnXAmTBk9CGQAfuvWJEicftvPLeQLJZA7V3rj9hH8CRPkNjDX7UkfXtotyv9lnQK49sYFHQynDk46lN8JPUjT4OZonKGfVTZq/s640/P1050206.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
A new beam is the only way to fix this. I already cut off the mounting tabs for the front bumper:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjGoiRMNlAOURLUtQ19jd6ayqwN3vqo1P74KQqmzyhyQgVos5vyy-RouAD9efCJ_dY5bF7tlKSxsEhyphenhyphenvsVLdMVuI9K-lN8WzeqreuzhM8HeUsFhWCTonI16SNxkzI6ResvaWSuL1jgwYqr/s1600/P1050203.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjGoiRMNlAOURLUtQ19jd6ayqwN3vqo1P74KQqmzyhyQgVos5vyy-RouAD9efCJ_dY5bF7tlKSxsEhyphenhyphenvsVLdMVuI9K-lN8WzeqreuzhM8HeUsFhWCTonI16SNxkzI6ResvaWSuL1jgwYqr/s640/P1050203.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju6A4pIMfg0rtF0VOJ58AtlSFAZuiIlv-X2zPg9WwJg-JcMuwsYw-jtzmGkAyvFNbhrFCEmpspvClvrlu2rXpy-kr53d4LiZ2YerJOERGY_CoiSxfmeAC-_mnG5asLmH6S7k3-BeQYC3pP/s1600/P1050204.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju6A4pIMfg0rtF0VOJ58AtlSFAZuiIlv-X2zPg9WwJg-JcMuwsYw-jtzmGkAyvFNbhrFCEmpspvClvrlu2rXpy-kr53d4LiZ2YerJOERGY_CoiSxfmeAC-_mnG5asLmH6S7k3-BeQYC3pP/s640/P1050204.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Those need to be welded to the new beam, then, cavity wax will be used to make sure no corrosion will destroy the domes of the new beam again...<br />
<br />
<br />
Another lesson learned: Buy new or check thoroughly before any used parts find the way onto your ride!<br />

For my taste, the Streaker could use
a splash of color. I made a sketch of the design and tried to figure
out which colors will match the "LG4U" Aubergine paint.<br />
You will find out soon... I need warmer weather to aply the new look!

... see you there on Saturday!Volkswrencherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03558501978179773996noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240955346048499469.post-39629953862157818552016-12-28T05:27:00.000-08:002016-12-28T05:31:51.550-08:00New windscreen and sealsThe Streaker is now 1 year on the streets. I drove it about 2.500 km and had to sort out a lot of small niggles. After I changed the carb lately it finally runs good.This summer I bought a new windscreen which I managed to break on the way to the garage...<br />
Just before Christmas I bought a new one from Hoffmann Speedster and this time all went well!<br />
The old screen had so many scratches and some burn marks from grinding and welding. The last owner stored the screen in his workshop and unfortunately, all sorts of stuff splattered on it and burned into the surface. Now I have a clear view again!<br />
<br />
This is the before - even if it is not to be seen, this is the old scratched screen: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJrLLt8VMolm8p0weCYe8xGswLNmkkWCARLQW6xw6Qssf406jynpEXcKqk5FvYauE6YXbn3151Qc65lyNEfmDmDjcP1c8UfFHwQCO9j5ZwCahG4FyzWIAlLbn3knDKpFME8hf3cDMqQhVO/s1600/P1050141.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJrLLt8VMolm8p0weCYe8xGswLNmkkWCARLQW6xw6Qssf406jynpEXcKqk5FvYauE6YXbn3151Qc65lyNEfmDmDjcP1c8UfFHwQCO9j5ZwCahG4FyzWIAlLbn3knDKpFME8hf3cDMqQhVO/s640/P1050141.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The window frame looks still perfect, no signs of rust! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV841Q73wD-pNgvx8ZG1d4XqR7CgGw0eaRCfx5NdNmKcTHIeSyT_GMMum5B5pYBAgEjiD3y7da-Wehb3bjQSG2xlYfIzznvtb88lbnOTsnRRqBE1xakh0T6gGbka3vC_aUSukKwuHIcyhZ/s1600/P1050142.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV841Q73wD-pNgvx8ZG1d4XqR7CgGw0eaRCfx5NdNmKcTHIeSyT_GMMum5B5pYBAgEjiD3y7da-Wehb3bjQSG2xlYfIzznvtb88lbnOTsnRRqBE1xakh0T6gGbka3vC_aUSukKwuHIcyhZ/s640/P1050142.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There was only a minor spot in the lower corner of the frame, a stone chip which I sealed against rust: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCURgwpFAZsipEVKcAn6OKscBm2NlIzE2KSPIVCHTzzuS6KBJPo_mYyS6AK-EAisec9PQ-XZ4dBwSgWOa5P3mGJogNdy7y5W5yXvHgVCYXFq16R3sjP84ej4kKCgfUqygLH_0uVEH4vh0f/s1600/P1050143.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCURgwpFAZsipEVKcAn6OKscBm2NlIzE2KSPIVCHTzzuS6KBJPo_mYyS6AK-EAisec9PQ-XZ4dBwSgWOa5P3mGJogNdy7y5W5yXvHgVCYXFq16R3sjP84ej4kKCgfUqygLH_0uVEH4vh0f/s640/P1050143.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It looks like the "before" picture, but is so much better - scratch free! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
At the same time I exchanged the rear window rubber, as there was still the original 1983 seal with missing chrome strip:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTmaPR3BzBQJOyFofhCd62ht-TF_vtv-ltrt6F3QaJSg2zUFxkjQ6VIwFdsozfrEKoI0ocBGGTHJdJqtPbnVu1FfDkHow3T1GN51TArbYKYRjmO1tFrRc2IWvJ2KcXsKnXnvCuAhPbWwjE/s1600/P1050145.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTmaPR3BzBQJOyFofhCd62ht-TF_vtv-ltrt6F3QaJSg2zUFxkjQ6VIwFdsozfrEKoI0ocBGGTHJdJqtPbnVu1FfDkHow3T1GN51TArbYKYRjmO1tFrRc2IWvJ2KcXsKnXnvCuAhPbWwjE/s640/P1050145.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There were some cracks on the old seal and the missing chrome strip made it look sad: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Out with the old: <br />

There is a classic car meeting each Sunday.<br />
Here are a few highlights, I know, a lot of Porsche, but there were all kinds of vintage iron on site!<br />

<br />
The 1-2-3 Ignition is installed, the engine still didn't run perfect, so I checked the resistance of the ignition wires - Surprise: 1 (brand new) wire was defect!<br />
I changed it and again, it was better but still not perfect. Some tweaking on the carburetor and now it is halfway decent...<br />
The next day I started the Streaker - which is perfect with the 1-2-3 ignition - and after about 2 km I was distracted by this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEif6u9SVDmBBjBy666SpWJkoketzDWnVZlN_G9V1p_mzjZtUudDT1Z1uAJozo-Xsh7jbWQWpJHjcTrdanfJ7MnY6tsp9AaBByNzuAEYTCLmnmEZGmvN1F1j1CE9vFRXw_x7ex4C8ue-rJk0/s1600/GEDC1429.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEif6u9SVDmBBjBy666SpWJkoketzDWnVZlN_G9V1p_mzjZtUudDT1Z1uAJozo-Xsh7jbWQWpJHjcTrdanfJ7MnY6tsp9AaBByNzuAEYTCLmnmEZGmvN1F1j1CE9vFRXw_x7ex4C8ue-rJk0/s640/GEDC1429.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Generator / charging light went full on! I exchanged the regulator (without checking anything else) but it didn't help! Later I found out that the brush springs on the generator were a little tired, I cleaned and tuned the brushes and now it works perfect again! Volkswrencherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03558501978179773996noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240955346048499469.post-2145274392484756722016-02-29T08:34:00.004-08:002016-02-29T08:34:57.453-08:00The remedy?The Streaker still doesn't perform. Some experts told me to check a 123 Ignition - which could cure some of the problems. As soon as the weather warms up a bit, I will install this thing of beauty and check if it works. If not, I can still use it in the Type 3 engine!<br />

The timing has been adjusted and the carburator, too. I think that the spark plugs are too "cold" for the amount of fuel/air mixture - So I will replace them with these:<br />

BP6ET - 3 electrodes and a "hotter" spark - I hope this helps...Volkswrencherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03558501978179773996noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240955346048499469.post-28282230305875011992016-01-24T05:52:00.003-08:002016-01-24T05:54:02.249-08:00Annoying rear seat vibrationThe rear seat was rattling since day one. The rubber which is usually monted in Mexico-made beetles was missing, resulting in a permanent rattle. During the Rosmalen meeting I found a nice set of rubber straps. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
As there appears to be only 1 strap on those cars, I try it with 1 strap also:<br />

We met some friends and concentrated on parts hunt. Ralf found a lot of stuff for the Avis beetle, I just collected a few things for the Streaker:<br />

A nice, OE VW Oil filler cap, a switch, a sheet of stickers, 2 beauty rings for the rear view mirrors and a more sturdy aluminum pipe for the heater system. On the far right is a set of rubber straps to fix the upper part of the rear seat properly. It rattles always during driving which drives me nuts!Volkswrencherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03558501978179773996noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240955346048499469.post-33141350659991776942016-01-08T09:39:00.000-08:002016-01-08T09:39:04.392-08:00a hefty receipt...Today I received the receipt for the TÜV inspection. I understand that a lot of work and time was involved. The receipt reflects this. It almost exactly met my highest expectations...<br />

I am waiting eagerly to receive the paperwork from the TÜV to finally register the Volksstreaker and use it on (and off) the roads!<br />
Today was my last day of work for this year, I will try to spend a good amount of time in the garage!<br />
<br />
You will find out on this blog if anything happens... <br />

This did the trick, I passed the decibel- emission test this time!<br />
<br />
The engine number was not visible - as it is a Type 3 block, so I had to add the engine number in the "Type 1 location", below the generator stand as well:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOCqqNIJdJJd0q1yApVPthIWkNKz-bNblUhDgWTu_1ENapphljZm_aTHf_1lOWX1LLg7O8uqn2DWLp7xF31egNgK0e-5lXoQrymJn2TNrfl_jxIWmF6jbeDhHpTyzInR31RxFfPxho0ttl/s1600/MotorKBS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOCqqNIJdJJd0q1yApVPthIWkNKz-bNblUhDgWTu_1ENapphljZm_aTHf_1lOWX1LLg7O8uqn2DWLp7xF31egNgK0e-5lXoQrymJn2TNrfl_jxIWmF6jbeDhHpTyzInR31RxFfPxho0ttl/s640/MotorKBS.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Luckily I had this old pic from the engine assembly:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The new seats were o.k., too.<br />
Funilly enough I met the same guy as last time again - He had to install a <a href="http://kaefer.motor-sport-service.de/html/luftfilteranlagen1.html">MSS</a> central filter set-up instead of the K&N filters to quiteten down his Weber carbs - he also passed today!<br />
So, happy end for the both of us!<br />

I'd be happy if you also visit this one from time to time!Volkswrencherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03558501978179773996noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4240955346048499469.post-30443969287909806792015-11-03T10:47:00.001-08:002015-11-03T11:30:54.817-08:00Epic fail: A visit to the TÜV Yesterday I tried to get a TÜV approval for the Streaker, including the H- registration for historic vehicles...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCqO9me4G3ZlESgnNuCxbxN95gz7Z3t_hDcZxA2hvLmFgL1XfIIfrHY_kNNvi-oV48HyvuOOb-WRkzPbVksbDOD9aE15xYceHqxuZcMBeREtJ-D9ZT9KmrD654udEQRJ5r8K3hvgv2Mloa/s1600/GEDC1059.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCqO9me4G3ZlESgnNuCxbxN95gz7Z3t_hDcZxA2hvLmFgL1XfIIfrHY_kNNvi-oV48HyvuOOb-WRkzPbVksbDOD9aE15xYceHqxuZcMBeREtJ-D9ZT9KmrD654udEQRJ5r8K3hvgv2Mloa/s640/GEDC1059.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
This is the "before" picture, waiting for the engineer in almost 20°C in the beginning of November!<br />
<br />
I wasn't the only ACVW driver, a fellow bug owner also had some technical modifications to aprove:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2NYCO56fROnvcvsNBB7u_IImdUXuxEVxDj99K1w-dvDNIj4vm8qY26YZm8SjVaxBSHfF2hssP6wbBN9YI0aIJebtwbdYMs54oYJCHCK5lRFEbU9WIapFIooUxjmLBRLY_edYklT04f8bY/s1600/GEDC1061.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2NYCO56fROnvcvsNBB7u_IImdUXuxEVxDj99K1w-dvDNIj4vm8qY26YZm8SjVaxBSHfF2hssP6wbBN9YI0aIJebtwbdYMs54oYJCHCK5lRFEbU9WIapFIooUxjmLBRLY_edYklT04f8bY/s640/GEDC1061.JPG" width="640" /></a> </div>
I don't know the final result of his test, but - well, the result for the Streaker was as expected<br />
Some things need to be fixed:<br />
The seats are non-conform for a h-registration - they are too young...<br />
The Empi exhaust is too loud, about 3-4 dB...<br />
The fixation of the seat belts needs to be done differently<br />
The engine case needs the number stamped in a visible place ( as a type 3 "T"-case is marked where the doghouse sits with a Type 1 figuration<br />
+ some minor stuff not to mention.<br />
<br />
I directly started searching "ebay Kleinanzeigen" and found a nice set of Opel Kadett seats which are not too dissimilar in design compared to the current seats and picked them up today - Not too bad, especially paying only 50 Euro for the pair!<br />
